Douglas Bags

Douglas Bags have been used for the collection of exhaled respiratory gases since the 1800’s*. Back in the early days, bags were designed to be worn on the person and utilised a valve at the mouth to control the flow of air. Nowadays, we typically mount bags on a rack or frame for easy access when a test subject will exercising on an ergometer or treadmill. We still use a Non-Rebreathing Valve with a mouthpiece and length of breathing tube.

Our Douglas bags are made from polyvinyl chloride, are tough and durable with electrically welded seams and come in a variety of sizes between 2L – 1000L. Most commonly supplied are; 100L, 150L, 200L.

For measurement of respiratory gases, we recommend the Servomex Gas Analyser.
