The Sample line of a Cortex device does the important job of transporting the gas sample from the mouth to the analyser. Not only this, it also aims to reduce moisture in the gas sample too. Over time, the Nafion section of the tube (textured part) will slightly discolour, this is normal and is caused by exposure to UV light.

How Frequently should I change my sample line?
Every 200 – 400 tests, depending on test duration.
When the white paper filter becomes discoloured (grey).
Making sure you are using a sample line without a blocked filter will prolong the life of the pump inside your Cortex device. Sample lines can be exchanged during an exercise test should they become blocked, this is thanks to the dynamic flow controller built into your Cortex device.
