Cortex Flowsensor with Disposable Turbine

Opto-Electronics

The Cortex Opto-electronics for use with a disposable turbine, also known as a flow sensor, is used to measure the volume flow during a CPET test. The disposable turbine option was established in 2019 whilst we were in a pandemic, as an option to carry out CPET testing with minimal risk. This option can give users a faster turnaround time for back-to-back testing, and can be a more cost-effective solution depending on the user’s requirements.

Cortex Face Mask Adapter for Disposable Turbine

This adapter connects directly to the Hans Rudolph 7450 Mask. The adapter allows users to connect the disposable turbine to the Hans Rudolph 7450 Mask.

Replacement O-Ring for Disposable Turbine

The O-ring seated inside the mask adapter used with Cortex’s disposable turbines is integral to the turbine being held firmly in place.

Supplied with a box of disposable turbines is a tube of grease, we recommend the the O-ring is regreased each time it has been sterilised to reduce friction when installing a new turbine. Doing so, will prolong the life of the O-ring.

Calibration

The disposable turbine is already calibrated for you. The Cortex CPET software automatically detects the using of the disposable turbine, the calibration can be executed, but is not applied here.

Disposal of the Turbine

Once you have completed your CPET test, the disposable turbine can be disposed off in your regular mixed waste. They are only intended for single use, so they must not be reused.

Take special care when disposing the turbine when used on a highly infected patient.
