Lode Esseda Wheelchair ergometer

The Lode Esseda Wheelchair ergometer is a Stress testing wheelchair ergometer, capable of reproducing high workloads time after time. The Lode Esseda allows subjects to be measured in their own wheelchair.

Quick and Easy setup

The wheelchair is aligned to the Lode Esseda Wheelchair ergometer using the alignment handle and alignment blocks. The wheelchair is then secured with the 4 strap fixation system, allowing for an accurate and reproducible placement each time.

Realistic feeling with useful feedback

The Lode Esseda allows for a realistic simulation of hand-rim wheelchair propulsion, while training load can be carefully controlled and adjusted.

In addition to this, the ergometer contains sensors which allow for the assessment of propulsion technique and exercise capacity. With two separate simulation modules, both sides can be measured individually giving you left/right data sets.

Simulate surface change

The ergometer can simulate inertia independent of the mass of the user and wheelchair. Through individual calibration each subject experiences real life wheeling conditions. We can even alter surface resistance to simulate surfaces with different friction or to create different test and training protocols.

What makes a Lode Ergometer?

The eddy current electro-magnetic braking mechanism is synonymous to all Lode Ergometers. Eddy current braking systems offer quiet, smooth, precise and adjustable control. Through design, this allows control of the workload without the need for physical contact between brake pads and the flywheel, reducing wear and tear.

High standards

Lode is a socially and environmentally responsible company. All Lode products are RoHS/WEE compliant and Lode is ISO 9001:2003, ISO 13485:2008 and FDA 510K certified. All medical products comply to MDD 93/42/EEC, incl. IEC 60601-1.

Lode Esseda – Unique Wheelchair propulsion analysis

The Lode Esseda allows for a realistic simulation of handrim wheelchair propulsion, while training load can be carefully controlled and adjusted. The Lode Esseda has been developed for easy access for all kind of wheelchairs and allows for propulsion analysis of users in their own wheelchair.

In order to do this, the Lode Esseda contains sensors which allow for the assessment of propulsion technique and exercise capacity. The Lode Esseda contains two separate simulation modules both a with roller, so that both sides can be measured individually.

Versatile data and ergometer management with – LEM 10

The Lode Ergometry Manager (LEM) is a software package used for controlling Lode ergometers and comes supplied as standard with the Lode Esseda.

Easily create and edit protocols

The software enables the operator to program protocols, control ergometers, visualise, save and analyse ergometry data and print customised reports in PDF. Commonly used bicycle protocols are pre programmed as standard.

The program also provides a patient database and the possibility to connect to a SQL server or the Hospital Information System (HIS) with HL7. LEM 10 is also backwards compatible with previous versions, allowing you import and use your existing database easily.

Left / right independent speed and torque

The Lode Esseda ergometer measurements are taken for both the left and right side and report independent speed and torque. Allowing for differences between the left and right speed to be shown and analysed.

Force Measurement

The Lode Esseda ergometer allows for measuring applied force on each hoop, provided that the correct diameter of the hoop is entered in Lode Ergometry Manager.

Positioning Aid

Through an easy lever operated positioning system the wheels can be set correctly on the drive/brake rolls to ensure reproducible and reliable measurements.

Fixation with Bruns Protectors

The subjects own wheelchair needs to be fixated on the ergometer. Therefore easy fixation with 4 Bruns Protectors is available standard with the product. Easy lock and easy release creates a safe test setup.

Export Module – Export to Excel

With the LEM expansion module Export it is possible to export data of the LEM database to other programs. The data can be exported to MS Excel. Data of one test subject or multiple test subjects can be exported to an Excel sheet for further analysis.
